Amaravati Capital to Witness its First Republic Day Celebrations

VIJAYAWADA: For the first time, the coalition government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will host the Republic Day celebrations in the Amaravati Capital.

Chief secretary K. Vijayanand chaired a high-level meeting at the AP secretariat on Wednesday. He directed officials to put in place flawless scale arrangements for the historic 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26. He instructed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure that the programme passes off smoothly.

The CS emphasised on adequate drinking water facilities, effective sanitation management, temporary toilets, barricading, traffic regulation and crowd control at the venue. He directed the police department to ensure tight security, systematic parking facilities and smooth traffic diversions.

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has been asked to ensure that the grounds, where the celebrations are to be held, are properly levelled, cleaned and made ready in all respects.

Vijayanand directed that prominent buildings, including Lok Bhavan, High Court, State Legislative Assembly, Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s camp office, be illuminated with decorative lighting. Horticulture department has been instructed to beautify the entrances of these venues with floral decorations and potted plants.

Information department has asked to ensure a robust public address system and live media coverage. Departments have been instructed to coordinate display of their tableaux to create public awareness about the government’s development and welfare schemes.

Electricity department has been told to ensure uninterrupted power supply, while the Medical and Health department will keep emergency medical teams and ambulances on standby.

Earlier, principal secretary (GAD) J. Shyamala Rao explained the departmental responsibilities through a PowerPoint presentation. He said tableau themes should be finalised and submitted by January 8.

Guntur district collector A. Thameem Ansaria has been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating and supervising all arrangements.
