Alliance Leaders Stress On Unity To Win Local Body Polls

The DCM said the Telugu Desam, Jana Sena and BJP had reached a consensus on seat-sharing, keeping the state's interests in mind. He acknowledged that negotiations were more complicated than those for the general elections because of the aspirations of leaders and workers across the three parties

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president PVN Madhav on Tuesday appealed to NDA leaders and cadres to maintain unity at the grassroots level and ensure the victory of alliance candidates in the local body elections.

Addressing a joint media conference, Pawan Kalyan took a dig at YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said, “If you (Jagan) show us 2.0, we will show you 10X. The people taught you a lesson in 2019 when you spoke like this.”

Pawan said only weak people spoke in such a manner.

The DCM said the Telugu Desam, Jana Sena and BJP had reached a consensus on seat-sharing, keeping the state's interests in mind. He acknowledged that negotiations were more complicated than those for the general elections because of the aspirations of leaders and workers across the three parties.

Pawan Kalyan said the alliance had accommodated different interests through discussions and urged leaders and cadres to uphold the spirit of unity at the local level. Those who could not secure tickets would be given opportunities in the future.

He cautioned aspirants against contesting independently after the alliance leadership finalised its candidates. Only those named in the final lists would receive official party authorisation forms, he said, urging other aspirants not to undermine the alliance's unity.

Recalling the 2024 assembly elections, in which the alliance won 93 per cent of the seats, he called for a similar collective effort in the local polls.

Highlighting the government's development initiatives, Pawan Kalyan said the Palle Panduga programme involved infrastructure works worth
Rs 20,390 crore, including 16,000km of cement concrete roads, 19,500km of bitumen roads, mini Gokulams, water ponds and cattle water troughs. He urged alliance leaders to participate in relief operations in view of Cyclone Arnab, expressing the hope that the state would suffer no loss of life or property.

Madhav said the state government was delivering welfare, development and good governance, with the Centre extending full support. He appealed to voters to support alliance candidates, stating that the government had fulfilled its electoral promises and continued with their implementation.
