Alipiri to Replicate Pilgrim Facilities at Tirumala to Ease pressure Atop Hill

The ₹2,750 crore integrated township on 20 acres near the S.V. Zoological Park will have accommodation and all other facilities, making the pilgrimage to Tirumala more convenient for people.

Tirupati: Alipiri, the gateway to Tirumala, is set to acquire all facilities available atop the hill town to ease pressure of pilgrims at Lord Venkateswara’s abode.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) plans to create accommodation, food, parking, and transport facilities at Alipiri itself.

Pilgrims will then be able to stay at Alipiri and proceed to the hilltop directly for Srivari darshan.

The move will not only ease pressure on Tirumala but also make pilgrimage more convenient for people.

For the purpose, devasthanam is planning to develop a ₹2,750 crore integrated pilgrim township on 20 acres near the S.V. Zoological Park.

The project will address the shortage of accommodation and other amenities at Tirumala, where the heavy influx of devotees often makes it difficult to find rooms and access basic facilities.

TTD executive officer Muddada Ravichandra said by providing ample space and world-class amenities at Alipiri, the rush at Tirumala can be significantly regulated.

He pointed out that because of the limited facilities on the hills, pilgrims often spend considerable time looking for accommodation and attendant arrangements.

Once these necessities are available at Alipiri, devotees will not have to worry about accommodation, luggage storage, parking, and other formalities before proceeding to Tirumala.

The objective, the EO said, is to ensure that pilgrims have no worries and remain absorbed in devotion to Lord Venkateswara.

Of the total project cost, ₹1,332 crore has been earmarked for accommodation.

Four blocks with 2,700 rooms are planned, with a capacity to accommodate around 15,000 pilgrims a day.

Another ₹486 crore will be spent on four pilgrim amenities complexes, which will provide lockers, bathing, and resting facilities for 16,000 devotees at a time.

An Annaprasadam centre, estimated to cost ₹160 crore, will serve 6,000 pilgrims simultaneously.

A multilevel parking complex costing ₹311 crore will have space for nearly 4,500 vehicles.

The project includes an integrated transport terminal with 30 bus bays, for which ₹90 crore have been allocated.

Ravichandra said electric vehicles would be arranged to connect the township with Alipiri at designated points.

This will allow pilgrims to travel without having to depend on private vehicles or overcrowded transport to reach Tirumala.

In addition, the township will have a pilgrim experience centre, a digital information centre, modern booking counters, luggage holding facilities, emergency medical assistance centres, and security systems.
