AI Task Force to Track Economy, Boost Tax Collections: AP CM
The CM stressed the need to improve performance indicators that remain below the national average and bring them on par with leading states.

Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday advised officials to harness technology and artificial intelligence to improve GST and other tax collections, while calling for the establishment of an AI-powered task force to monitor economic developments in real time and support data-driven governance.
Reviewing state gross domestic product (GSDP) targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the 2026-27 financial year at his camp office in Undavalli in Amaravati, the CM asked officials to prepare monthly economic reports to assess the state's economic performance. Periodic reviews at the state, district and mandal levels, supported by monthly, quarterly and half-yearly statistical indicators, would help track progress towards GSDP goals more effectively, he said.
The CM stressed the need to improve performance indicators that remain below the national average and bring them on par with leading states. Officials must adopt a scoring mechanism that evaluates departments not only on target achievement but also on actual growth outcomes.
Highlighting the role of infrastructure in driving economic growth, Naidu said every rupee invested in infrastructure could generate up to 3.5 times the economic activity. He underscored the importance of maximising Gross Value Addition (GVA) across sectors and leveraging manufacturing, mining, trade, transportation and major infrastructure projects such as Amaravati, Polavaram, ports and airports to create a strong multiplier effect on the state's economy.
As part of efforts to strengthen governance and administrative efficiency, Naidu said, a state-level workshop for capacity building of government officers and employees would be held on July 2 and 3.
He also emphasised the full-scale utilisation of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in revenue administration to enhance GST collections and strengthen the state's fiscal position.
Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and senior officials attended the review meeting.
