Chandrababu Hails Amaravati Bill Passage in Lok Sabha as Historic
"I sincerely hope that the Bill will receive similar support in the Rajya Sabha," the Chief Minister stated in a post shared on X.

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday termed the passage of the Amaravati Bill in the Lok Sabha as a historic moment and deeply emotional moment for the State.The Centre passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha, granting statutory recognition to Amaravati as the capital.
With the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha, recognising Amaravati as our sole Praja Rajadhani, the collective aspirations of millions have found expression on the floor of the nation’s Parliament, he wrote in a post on X.
He extended gratitude to all the members who spoke in support of the Bill, cutting across party lines in support of Andhra Pradesh and in recognition of the sacrifices made by our farmers, he wrote, and hoped the Bill would receive similar support in the Rajya Sabha.
The bill granting statutory status to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh has since been forwarded to the Rajya Sabha and will be tabled on Thursday for consideration. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, is scheduled to introduce the legislation, which seeks to accord statutory status to Amaravati as the state capital. A discussion on the bill is expected to take place at 1:00 PM. If approved by the Rajya Sabha, the bill will be sent to President Droupadi Murmu for assent.
