ANANTAPUR: In a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at boosting tourism, helicopter rides have been introduced as part of Gandikota Utsavams–2026, offering visitors an aerial view of Gandikota, popularly known as the Grand Canyon of the South, in Kadapa district.
The three-day festival will be held from January 11 to 13, with the district administration making elaborate arrangements for the event.
The helicopter ride facility, launched under the aegis of Surya Irrigation Vihang Adventures, was inaugurated on Thursday at the Kadapa Arts College Grounds by Telugu Desam polit bureau member Srinivasa Reddy Reddeppagari.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the scenic beauty of Kadapa city and the surrounding region appeared breathtaking when viewed from the air. He urged tourists and residents of the district to take advantage of the facility and experience Gandikota from a unique perspective.
Officials said the initiative was expected to add a major attraction to the annual festival and enhance Gandikota’s profile as a key tourism destination in the State.
