Action Plan to Be Prepared For Development of Kamadhenu Breeding Centre
The minister reviewed the status of the facility at a meeting held at the MLA camp office in Kavali

NELLORE: Endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Wednesday said the state government would prepare a special action plan for the development of the National Kamadhenu Breeding Centre at Chintaladevi in Kondapuram mandal.
The minister reviewed the status of the facility at a meeting held at the MLA camp office in Kavali, along with Kavali MLA Dagumati Venkata Krishna Reddy and Udayagiri MLA Kakarla Suresh. Officials of the animal husbandry department participated.
Officials briefed the minister on the existing infrastructure and requirements for expansion and modernisation. The minister also held a teleconference with APSIDC managing director Tirumala Rao, the director of animal husbandry and rural water supply officials on infrastructure and water supply arrangements.
Ramanarayana Reddy said the 2,500-acre facility would be developed as a centre for indigenous cattle conservation and dairy development. “We will transform the Chintaladevi livestock development centre into a model institution at the national level,” he said.
He said the centre currently houses 19 cattle breeds and added that focus would be on conservation of indigenous breeds, improving productivity and strengthening genetic traits.
The minister said steps would be taken to ensure adequate water supply for the centre and added that decisions on development works would be taken after preparation of the action plan.
