Visakhapatnam: Srikakulam police arrested Anduluri Sarath Kumar, a generator repair shop owner, for murdering Pujari Kalavathi, 53, over financial debts.
SP K.V. Maheswar Reddy stated that the accused, pressured by lenders, killed Kalavathi after meeting her at a local Satsang. Kumar strangled her, stole gold jewellery worth ₹1.65 lakh, and hid the items under his residence’s stairs.
The police registered the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. CCTV footage and witness testimonies, including from the victim’s family, aided the investigation.
