The food safety officer Claims information about adulteration at the shop

Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped a woman food safety officer and her attendant on charges of accepting bribes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 2,000, respectively, at her office in Eluru on Tuesday night.

According to ACB officials, Namburi Sai Sundar Gokul, a resident of Katlapudi village in Eluru mandal, has been running a Goli Soda shop for some time. However, food safety officer Dondapati Venkata Kavya Reddy allegedly called him, claiming she had received information about adulteration at his shop. She demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 and threatened to file a case if he failed to pay.

The shop owner approached the ACB, which laid a trap and caught her red-handed while accepting the tainted money through her attendant, Pulapa Pulla Rao. The attendant also took an additional Rs 2,000 from the shop owner. Both the officer and her attendant were arrested.
