Abducted Three-Year-Old Girl Rescued; Father, Two Others Held

According to GRP CI G.V. Ramana, the girl’s father, Saikam Mastan of Vetapalem village in Bapatla district, arrived at the GRP station at 10.30 pm on August 7, claiming that his daughter Sravani had been abducted by two unidentified persons near the reservation counter on platform no.1 at Vijayawada railway station.

Vijayawada: The Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued a three-year-old girl, arrested her father and two others, and reunited her with her mother on Friday.

According to GRP CI G.V. Ramana, the girl’s father, Saikam Mastan of Vetapalem village in Bapatla district, arrived at the GRP station at 10.30 pm on August 7, claiming that his daughter Sravani had been abducted by two unidentified persons near the reservation counter on platform no.1 at Vijayawada railway station. He later stated that she had gone missing.

Special teams from GRP and RPF reviewed CCTV footage at the railway station, spotting a man and a woman taking the girl. Further checks at the Krishnalanka bus stand revealed the suspects boarding a bus to Visakhapatnam with the child. The bus driver confirmed their presence, and GRP personnel from Rajamahendravaram intercepted them and took them into custody.

The girl’s mother, Saikam Venkateswaramma, informed police that her husband had been living separately for four months and had abducted their daughter two days earlier. Upon interrogation, Mastan confessed to abducting his daughter and selling her to the two suspects for ₹5,000. The two admitted they planned to involve her in begging to earn money.

The two suspects were identified as Bolla Srinivasulu of Bapatla district and Sadela Chinnari of Prakasam district. All three were produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
