9 Doctors Booked for Alleged Medical Negligence Leading to Woman’s Death in Vijayawada
Family alleges inadequate treatment and alteration of discharge summary at a private hospital

Vijayawada: Satyanarayanapuram police registered a case against nine doctors for alleged negligence in providing treatment to a woman, resulting in her death, and for allegedly changing her discharge summary at a private hospital in Vijayawada.
According to police, railway employee Krishna Murthy admitted his mother, Appayamma, to Svara Hospital after she fell ill in October 2023. As she was suffering from heart-related problems, the doctors allegedly assured him that she would receive proper treatment.
However, Appayamma later suffered a heart attack and died. Her body was subsequently cremated by her son.
Krishna Murthy later filed a petition before a city court, alleging that the doctors failed to provide proper treatment and did not engage specialist doctors, including a cardiologist and pulmonologist. He also alleged that the discharge summary was changed.
The court directed Satyanarayanapuram police to register a case and investigate the allegations. Police subsequently registered the case and took up the investigation.
Lorry driver missing after alleged assault by RTA staff; case registered
A lorry driver from Madhya Pradesh has gone missing after he was allegedly assaulted by the driver of a Road Transport Authority (RTA) brake inspector on the National Highway in Visakhapatnam.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 20 after the lorry driver, Bairolal Sahu, allegedly failed to stop his vehicle for inspection. The matter came to light on Monday after a video of the alleged assault went viral.
In the video, Sahu is seen being assaulted while pleading with the person attacking him to stop.
Road transport officer J. Ram Prasad said an internal inquiry had been conducted after the department learnt of the incident.
“The brake inspector Parvathi did not disclose the incident to the deputy commissioner’s office in Visakhapatnam. When we came to know, we conducted an inquiry and surrendered her to head office at Vijayawada. She joined today,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Malkapuram police registered a missing case following a complaint lodged by B. Seshagiri, general secretary of the New Andhra Motor Truckers Association (NAMTA).
According to the complaint, Sahu was allegedly assaulted by RTA personnel on August 20 and remained reachable by phone until 3 pm on August 22. His phone subsequently became unavailable and his whereabouts are unknown.
Police have launched an investigation to trace him and said further legal action would be taken based on his statement after he is found.
