8-Year-Old Dies as Rain-Soaked House Wall Collapses in AP
The flood flow in Godavari is gradually increasing due to rains in the upper catchment areas
Hyderabad: An eight-year-old died Lakshminarayana died after a rain-soaked house wall collapsed due to heavy rains at Chinavalasa in Tallarevu mandal even as several parts of Andhra Pradesh continue to witness heavy rains.
The flood flow in Godavari is gradually increasing due to rains in the upper catchment areas. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued a warning that the Godavari is likely to receive floodwaters from September 26.
The first flood warning is likely to be issued on September 26, followed by the second warning on September 27 and the third warning on September 28.
Power supply has been disrupted in several mandals of Konaseema district. Aqua farmers are facing severe difficulties due to the power outage. Strong winds and heavy rains have disrupted electricity supply.
Meanwhile, thousands of cusecs of water are flowing into reservoirs in north Andhra. Water is flowing into reservoirs such as Meghadrigadda, Tadipudi, Raiwada, Pedduru, Konam and Thotapalli. The moderate rainfall is expected to ease drinking water and irrigation concerns.
In Rajam, floodwater is overflowing onto roads. The overflowing Relligadda stream has disrupted traffic between Saradhi and Rajam. Floodwater entered Saradhi village after the Gopinayudu tank overflowed. Floodwater is also flowing over the bridge at Gaddavalasa in Rajam mandal.
The sea turned turbulent at Uppada. Waves are surging along the coast at Uppada in Kakinada district under the influence of the depression, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds.
Trees have been uprooted at several places in the Pithapuram Assembly constituency, while floodwaters have surged into the Suddagadda hill canal. Floodwater has risen to about two feet on the Gollaprolu–Tatiparthi road, causing inconvenience to commuters and farmers
