7 YSRC Activists Held For Animal Sacrifice At Jagan Birthday Event
The DSP said such acts could adversely affect law and order, as they may encourage others to follow similar practices on different occasions: Reports

ANANTAPUR: Kanaganipalli police arrested seven YSRC cadres for allegedly sacrificing a sheep and offering its blood to a portrait of former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during his birthday celebrations at Bhanukota village in Kanaganipalli mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district.
Dharmavaram DSP Hemanth Kumar told the media on Monday that the incident took place in the faction-sensitive village, where the accused allegedly slit the throat of a sheep, offered its blood to the portrait and took out a procession in the village.
The DSP said such acts could adversely affect law and order, as they may encourage others to follow similar practices on different occasions. He noted that public animal sacrifice is a punishable offence under the law and warned that such provocative behaviour could increase hostility between social groups and political parties.
Police registered a case and arrested all seven persons involved.
