Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has formed a seven-member group of ministers to resolve issues/concerns vis-à-vis requests for change in the names/boundaries of districts, mandals and villages in the state.

Chief secretary K Vijayanand issued GO-1378 here on Tuesday, giving the names of the seven ministers.

They are Anagani Satya Prasad (revenue), Ponnuru Narayana (municipal administration), Vangalapudi Anitha (home), B.C. Janardhan Reddy (roads), Nadendla Manohar (civil supplies) and Satya Kumar Yadav (health). Revenue special chief secretary will be the convener for the GoM.

The terms of reference include as follows: Assess practicality of proposed changes in terms of administrative efficiency; address disputes related to district, revenue division or mandal boundaries and evaluate the distance from district to revenue division or mandal headquarters, to ensure accessibility to citizens; consider the preservation of historical and cultural affiliations when reviewing proposals for boundary changes or new administrative units; ensure that the restructuring promotes equitable socio-economic development across regions; equate proposals to maintain a balance in geographic-size and demographic distribution for effective governance; and study the issues raised by the citizens and public representatives while considering the changes proposed in district boundaries, headquarters, naming conventions, administrative arrangements and resource allocation.

The GoM would submit their recommendations to the government for suitable decisions.
