7 Injured As Hot Sambar Spills At Temple

TIRUPATI: Seven people suffered burn injuries after a large vessel containing hot sambar spilled at the Annadanam preparation centre of the Sri Subrahmanya Swamy temple at Mallam village in Chittamur mandal of Tirupati district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred while preparations were underway for the ongoing Brahmotsavams at the temple. According to Vakadu circle inspector H.S. Hussain Basha, sambar was being prepared in a large vessel to serve nearly 8,000 devotees.
The accident occurred when the vessel was being shifted from the cooking area to the floor, causing the hot sambar to spill over people nearby.
The victims suffered burn injuries mainly to their legs and lower body. Three of them sustained severe burns and were shifted to Chennai for advanced treatment. The remaining four injured persons were taken to the Government Hospital in Naidupeta, where they received treatment and were later discharged.
Police officials visited the spot and gathered details about the incident. The circle inspector said all the victims were out of danger.
The mishap caused concern among devotees and temple staff as preparations were underway for the large-scale Annadanam being organised as part of the Brahmotsavams.
