6-Day Brahmotsavams Begin at Guruvayur Temple

NELLORE: The annual six-day Brahmotsavams of Sri Mahalakshmi Goda Sametha Sri Guruvayur Mahavishnu began on a grand note at the Sri Swamy Ayyappa Devasthanam in Vedayapalem on Sunday with special rituals performed amid Vedic chanting.
The inaugural ceremonies included Kalasa Puja, 108 Kalasa Abhishekam, Mahakumbha Aradhana, Punyahavachanam and special homams. Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and his wife Ushamma, along with other devotees, sponsored the opening rituals.
The temple, which follows Kerala traditions, is expected to attract a large number of devotees until the festival concludes on July 10. The celebrations will feature Dhwajarohanam, Sudarshana Homam, Lakshmi Yagam, Dhanvantari Homam, Garuda Seva and other religious events. The Tirukalyana Mahotsavam on July 9 will be the highlight, followed by Annaprasadam. The festivities will conclude with Nava Kalasa Snapana Tirumanjanam, Chakrasnanam, Pushpa Yagam, Maha Poornahuti and Dhwajavarohanam.
