₹50-crore knowledge hub planned at Kurnool Medical College
Minister T.G. Bharat said the government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and providing modern medical services

KURNOOL: Minister for industries, commerce and food processing T.G. Bharat on Tuesday announced the establishment of a `50-crore Knowledge Hub at Kurnool Medical College, to be funded by contributions from doctors working abroad.
The minister was speaking after inaugurating a VRDL laboratory building constructed at a cost of `66 lakh at the medical college. He said the government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and providing modern medical services.
“We are taking several steps for the development of the hospital. With CSR funds, we will provide ventilators and ultrasound machines to improve patient care. Works are also underway to strengthen slabs of 21 buildings that are in a vulnerable condition,” he said.
He said a modern Knowledge Centre and digital library would be set up on 70 cents of land within the campus to improve academic infrastructure for medical students.
Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju said the Government General Hospital has emerged as one of the leading public hospitals in the state, handling a high outpatient load. “Thousands of patients visit the hospital every day, reflecting the importance of the medical services provided here,” he said.
He added that the VRDL lab was completed within six months with central funding support.
Hospital superintendent Dr Kurukunda Venkateswarlu, medical college principal Dr Chitti Lakshminarasamma and others were present.
