A major road accident in Tirupati district claimed the lives of five people on Monday.

Tirupati:A major road accident in Tirupati district claimed the lives of five people on Monday. The accident occurred after a car lost control and rammed into a container lorry near Konappareddypalli, close to Nendragunta in Pakala mandal, under Chandragiri constituency limits.
According to police, seven individuals from Karnataka were travelling to Tirumala for darshan when their car attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a container lorry. The car was crushed under the lorry, killing five passengers instantly. Two others suffered severe injuries and were rushed to a hospital. Medical authorities stated that the condition of the injured child remains critical.
The deceased were identified as Vijaya Lakshmi, 50, B.S. Sahana, 34, S.R. Rajani, 27, and R. Lekhan Gowda, 11, all from Subramanyapura, Bangalore, and Thiyagarajan, 48, the driver from Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Locals who witnessed the accident assisted in rescue operations until police arrived. The mangled car remains were extricated with difficulty and the bodies were shifted to SVIMS Hospital in Tirupati for post-mortem examinations.
District collector Dr S. Venkateswar visited the hospital and enquired about the condition of the injured. He directed SVIMS staff to provide the best possible medical care. Superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju inspected the accident site and gathered information from eyewitnesses. He indicated that the crash occurred due to negligent driving. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed district officials to ensure the injured receive the best possible treatment. He also instructed authorities to extend government support to the families of the victims.
