4 Killed, 7 Hurt as Auto Rams Timber Lorry Near Gadanki

The passengers were travelling from Perumallapalle village in Yadamari mandal of Chittoor district to attend a family wedding in Tirupati.

Tirupati:Four people were killed and seven others injured in a road accident on the Puthalapattu–Naidupeta National Highway near Gadanki in Tirupati district on Wednesday.

According to Pakala circle inspector Chinna Govindu, a timber-laden lorry travelling from Bengaluru to Srikalahasti was involved in the accident when an autorickshaw carrying 11 passengers reportedly rammed into its rear near Gadanki.

The passengers were travelling from Perumallapalle village in Yadamari mandal of Chittoor district to attend a family wedding in Tirupati.

Yanamala Madhavi (37) and her daughter Meghana (15), both residents of Venuguntapalle, died on the spot. Pulikinti Rajasekhar (25) and Pulikinti Baby (50) succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital.

The injured were identified as autorickshaw driver Pulikinti Subrahmanyam, P. Chinnabba, P. Devi, P. Raghu, P. Naveen, Kommu Vishnu and Chamundeswari. They were shifted to Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati for treatment.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
