389 Get Compassionate Jobs in Power Sector
Energy minister Gottipati Ravikumar says 389 people got compassionate jobs in AP's power sector since the coalition govt took office
A total of 389 people have been provided jobs on compassionate grounds in the power sector since the coalition government assumed office, energy minister Gottipati Ravikumar said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a programme in Gunadala, Vijayawada, where appointment orders were handed over to eligible candidates of the Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL), Ravikumar said the government was giving priority to employee welfare, employment opportunities for youth and development of power infrastructure.
The minister said appointment orders were handed over to 25 candidates under the compassionate appointment scheme. He said the government stood by the families of deceased power sector employees and would ensure that eligible dependants did not have to make repeated visits to offices to secure appointments.
He said special consideration would be given to another 35 to 45 eligible candidates by fixing a cut-off date and directed officials to take steps to provide them jobs.
The government had also conducted examinations to fill 629 Assistant Engineer posts across different wings of the power sector, Ravikumar said. The results would be announced soon, followed by certificate verification. He said the recruitment process would be conducted transparently and without inconvenience to candidates.
Ravikumar said three instalments of dearness allowance had been given to power sector employees since the coalition government assumed office. A specialised training centre had also been constructed in Visakhapatnam at a cost of around ₹30 crore to provide employees quality training using modern technology.
On renewable energy, he said the government was promoting solar and wind power projects, particularly in rural areas. Solar panels were being installed on the rooftops of around six lakh SC and ST households under the Surya Ghar scheme. Works worth around ₹10,000 crore were also being taken up under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to strengthen rural power infrastructure.
APCPDCL CMD P. Pulla Reddy, directors A. Muralikrishna Yadav, TVSN Murthy and S. Venkateswarlu and senior officials attended the programme.
