Farmers oppose urea app, seek supply through Rythu Seva Kendras

Visakhapatnam: Farmers in Parvathipuram Manyam district staged a protest on Maradana Street in Komarada mandal headquarters on Saturday, demanding that urea be supplied through Rythu Seva Kendras instead of the urea app.

The protest, organised under the banner of the CPM, highlighted delays and difficulties in obtaining fertilisers during the cropping season.

Addressing the gathering, CPM Komarada Mandal convener Kolli Sambamurthy alleged that farmers were being forced to wait from morning till evening at the Gomuru centre and private outlets, often returning empty-handed. He said glitches in the urea app had made it difficult for farmers to procure fertiliser when required.

Sambamurthy also criticised the policy of restricting supply to one bag of urea per acre, irrespective of a farmer's total landholding. He demanded that farmers be supplied with the quantity required for their crops.

The protesters questioned the government's claims of prioritising farmers' welfare and sought immediate supply of urea and other fertilisers through Rythu Seva Kendras. They also asked the government to provide adequate training if it wanted farmers to adopt natural farming practices.

The farmers warned that they would intensify their agitation with large-scale protests at Rythu Seva Kendras if the supply issues were not resolved.
