Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta announced that 37 incidents have been reported during the MPTC and ZPTC elections across 15 districts of Andhra Pradesh, including Kadapa, Anantapur, and Kurnool on Thursday.

The DGP directed district police officials to investigate the incidents thoroughly using the available technological evidence and initiate legal action against those responsible, whether for obstructing polling or disturbing public order.

He maintained that polling for 582 ZPTC and 7,767 MPTC seats across 28 districts of AP have concluded peacefully, barring a few minor incidents. He attributed the conduct of polling to security arrangements, continuous monitoring, and special surveillance in sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas.

As many as 40,679 police personnel had been deployed across 17,555 polling areas and more than 31,000 polling stations to maintain law and order. Sensitive locations had been identified in advance and additional forces deployed to prevent untoward incidents.

Harish Kumar Gupta monitored polling and security arrangements from the Integrated Command Control Centre at the State Police Headquarters. He continuously reviewed the situation on the ground and issued instructions to senior officers and field personnel.

CCTV cameras, videography, drones, body-worn cameras, the Samarth App, and Trace application had been used to monitor polling and prevent disturbances.

The DGP said after the polling, ballot boxes have been transported to strong rooms under police escort. Officers have been instructed to maintain round-the-clock vigilance around the strong rooms.

Harish Kumar Gupta appreciated district SPs, senior police officers, personnel, and other security forces for their service. He thanked voters and the public for their cooperation in the conduct of elections.
