3 Held for Burglaries at Police Staffers’ Houses in Kurnool
The suspects were travelling towards Bengaluru to allegedly sell the stolen property when police intercepted them on the Kurnool Outer Ring Road.
Kurnool:Kurnool police arrested three alleged members of a burglary gang for breaking into the houses of two police staff members at Srinivasa Nagar on the city outskirts on August 23.
The accused were identified as Sarfaraz, Khurram Ali and Shanawaz, all from Hyderabad. Police said they targeted the house of Head Constable Mahesh of the Second Battalion and the adjacent house of retired SI Subbaiah when the occupants were away between noon and 1 pm.
Based on complaints from the two households, police registered separate cases and launched an investigation under the direction of Kurnool SP Vikrant Patil, IPS, and supervision of CI Vikram Simha. CCTV footage and phone data helped investigators identify and track the suspects, police said.
According to police, the trio confessed to breaking into houses on the outskirts after coming to Kurnool. They allegedly stole around 20 tolas of gold and 20 tolas of silver ornaments from the two houses.

Police recovered 15 tolas of gold ornaments and 20 tolas of silver jewellery and seized the Qualis vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
The accused reportedly have more than 10 burglary cases registered against them at police stations in Siddipet, Addakal and Rajendranagar, police said.
