3 Family Members Drown After Car Plunges into Canal
Kakinada: A tragic incident occurred early Tuesday morning when a car plunged into an overflowing canal near Chintavari Peta in Udimudi village, P.Gannavaram mandal, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, resulting in the drowning of three family members.
According to P.Gannavaram police, Nelapudi Vijaya Kumari, a driving instructor from Pothavaram village, was traveling with his wife Uma, 30, son Manoj, 9, and another son Rushi, 7 on their return journey from Araku.
While en route to Pothavaram, the car veered off the road and plunged into the canal. Vijaya Kumari, Uma, and Rushi managed to reach the shore, but Manoj could not. Uma jumped back into the water to search for her son, and Rushi also followed her into the canal. Tragically, both Uma and her two sons were swept away.
Vijaya Kumar, unable to locate them, drove the car to Ethakota village in Ravulapalem mandal. He reported that Uma had taken the steering wheel after the accident, and they were only seven kilometers away from their destination, Pothavaram, when the tragedy occurred.
Circle inspector Bhimaraju, sub-inspector Siva Krishna, and their team rushed to the scene to search for the missing persons. The bodies of Uma and Manoj were recovered, and efforts to locate Rushi continue. The P.Gannavaram police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation.
