24 Tribal Students Fall Sick in Nandyal
Out of 280 students enrolled in the school, 24 showed symptoms of illness.

Kurnool: Several students of the Nerawada Tribal Welfare Residential School fell ill after reportedly consuming contaminated food or water. The incident occurred after the students ate puffed rice and other food items on Friday evening. By Saturday morning, many began experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea.
Out of 280 students enrolled in the school, 24 showed symptoms of illness. All affected students were immediately shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Panyam for treatment. District medical and health officer (DMHO) Dr R. Venkata Ramana, who visited the hospital, confirmed that 20 students have since been discharged, while four others remain under medical care but are in stable condition.
The DMHO stated that a nearby canal supplying water to the school was suspected of being the source of contamination. Water and food samples have been collected and sent for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause. He assured that there is no threat to the lives of the children, and the remaining students under observation are expected to recover and be discharged soon. Further, Nandyal district collector G. Rajakumari stated that there is no cause for concern regarding the students' health and that all of them are in stable condition.
