Agriculture department officials seized 2,371 MT of fertilisers worth ₹5.18 crore across the state for alleged malpractices during the Kharif season.

Vijayawada: Agriculture department officials seized 2,371 MT of fertilisers worth ₹5.18 crore across the state for alleged malpractices during the Kharif season.
Agriculture director Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon said on Monday that officials conducted raids on fertiliser shops as part of an enforcement drive.
They suspended 292 dealer licences, cancelled eight licences, registered 67 Section 6A cases and filed seven FIRs.
He said the department had made significant progress in enforcing Fertiliser Control Order regulations by taking stringent action against diversion, black marketing, illegal stocking, overpricing and linking fertiliser sales with other agricultural products.
Dr Samoon said the department had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards malpractices in fertiliser sales.
He urged farmers to follow balanced fertiliser use during the Rabi season based on crop requirements, soil-test recommendations and prescribed doses.
