21 Lakh Error-Free Pattadar Passbooks Ready For Distribution: Satya Prasad

“We received 2.79 lakh petitions, all of which were resolved”: Revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad

VIJAYAWADA: Some 21-lakh new pattadar passbooks are ready for distribution to farmers. Stating this here on Friday, revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad said they were printed after meticulous verification to ensure “they are error-free.”

He said the “hasty” re-survey done by the YSRC government had resulted in “errors” in land records. The present government has taken up a “complete rectification.”

The minister said that after the present government took power, grama sabhas were held in 6,688 villages to resolve farmers’ grievances. “We received 2.79 lakh petitions, all of which were resolved.” Similarly, revenue sadassus were conducted in 17,600 villages, where 1.85 lakh complaints were cleared.

The farmers were provided a four-month window to seek corrections in land records, which were updated in the Live Webland database.

“The data in these new passbooks comes directly from Live Webland. Even after printing, a further round of cross-verification is being done at the joint collector level,” the minister said, adding that this process was in its final stage.

Responding to reports that nearly 50 per cent of the new passbooks carried errors, Satya Prasad claimed that this was baseless. “Not a single passbook with mistakes has been issued so far. Farmers have no reason to worry.”

He said, “The details are being verified thoroughly, and any corrections sought by landowners later would be made free of charge,” he said.

The revenue minister said, “Already, over one lakh applications for corrections have been addressed at the sub-divisional level without charging any fee. Even issues such as unclear photos or mistakes in names and gender fields are being rectified before distribution. Farmers will receive updated passbooks at no cost.”

The minister clarified that possession of a new passbook is not mandatory for availing crop loans. Banks, he explained, use the Live Webland Loan Charge Module, which eliminates the scope for fraudulent claims. “It clearly identifies the genuine landowner. So, farmers need not worry about delays in loans due to passbooks,” he stated.

The minister also dismissed an apprehension that tenant farmers’ names might appear in passbooks as landowners. He said the system printed only the names from the official 1B (ROR) master records that do not list tenants.
