200 Specially-Abled Persons Receive Advanced Prosthetic Hands
Around 200 beneficiaries were fitted with advanced LN4 prosthetic hands at a special camp in Guntur, helping improve mobility, independence and quality of life.
Around 200 specially-abled persons who had lost their hands or forearms were fitted with advanced imported LN4 prosthetic hands at a special camp organised in Guntur on Sunday.
The camp was organised by the Andhra Pradesh Red Cross Society in collaboration with Rotary International and with support from the Tangience Foundation, USA.
The AP Red Cross identified 255 eligible specially-abled beneficiaries through screening and outreach programmes in Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and West Godavari districts. The LN4 prosthetic hands are designed to help users perform daily activities independently, improving mobility, confidence and quality of life.
Besides fitting the prosthetic devices, organisers provided practical training on their use and maintenance to help beneficiaries adapt to the equipment and maximise its benefits. They said the initiative would also improve access to education, employment and sustainable livelihoods, enabling specially-abled persons to lead more independent lives.
Beneficiaries thanked the AP Red Cross, Rotary International and the Tangience Foundation for helping them regain independence.
AP Red Cross chairman Y.D. Rama Rao, General Secretary A.K. Parida, Guntur Red Cross Chairman Vadlamani Ravi, AP Red Cross Vice-Chairman P. Ramachandra Raju and other dignitaries attended the programme.
Organisers said similar camps would be conducted across Andhra Pradesh by the end of the year to provide prosthetic hands to all eligible specially-abled beneficiaries.
