2 Women Ministers Visit Remote Tribal Village in ASR District
The ministers appreciated tribal farmers for giving up ganja cultivation and taking up alternative crops to secure sustainable livelihoods
VISAKHAPATNAM: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha and tribal welfare minister and Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district in-charge minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani on Tuesday visited Sappiputtu, a remote tribal village under Dallapalli gram panchayat in Paderu mandal of the ASR district.
The ministers travelled nearly eight km through hilly forest terrain to reach the village, where they were accorded a traditional welcome by tribal residents.
They interacted with villagers, heard their grievances and development-related demands and assured them that appropriate steps would be taken to address their concerns.
The ministers appreciated tribal farmers for giving up ganja cultivation and taking up alternative crops to secure sustainable livelihoods.
During the visit, the Police Eagle Team conducted a legal awareness programme and assured villagers of its support in achieving the goal of making Sappiputtu a ‘Zero Ganja Village.’
The team said the police department would continue to assist efforts to eliminate ganja cultivation by promoting alternative livelihood opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, Sandhya Rani reiterated the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of tribal communities through improved livelihoods, education, healthcare and basic infrastructure. She said the government would continue to extend all possible support for the comprehensive development of remote tribal villages.
