18-year-old girl stabbed by masked man in Vizianagaram district
Locals described the attacker as a tall man and ruled out the possibility of a love affair as the motive. However, police suspect that sexual jealousy could have prompted the assault.

Vizianagaram: An 18-year-old girl sustained stab injuries after a masked man intruded into her house at Sivaram village in Garividi mandal of Vizianagaram district on Saturday afternoon.
Vizianagaram district police chief Vakul Jindal said alleged sexual jealousy was the suspected motive behind the attack.
According to locals,a masked man entered the girl’s house and stabbed her twice with a sharp object while she was cleaning kitchen utensils. Despite her serious injuries, the girl managed to pull off the attacker’s mask, come out of the house, and raise an alarm. At the time of the incident, only the girl and her grandmother were at home, as her parents had gone out for work. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Although some locals gave chase and attempted to catch him, their efforts were unsuccessful . A weapon and a mask, believed to have been left behind by the attacker, were recovered from the crime scene.
The injured girl was initially rushed to a government hospital for first aid before being shifted to a private hospital in Vizianagaram town. Her condition is said to be stable.
After inspecting the crime scene, SP Vakul Jindal said a special team had been formed to apprehend the accused. “Based on inputs from the locals, we have taken three suspects into custody for interrogation,” he added.
