Kurnool: Tension prevailed in Tadipatri town of Anantapur district after police registered cases against 18 persons from both the Telugu Desam and YSRC factions for allegedly obstructing police duties.
The incident is related to a recent ‘Recall Chandrababu Manifesto’ event organised by the YSRC three days ago. Harshita Reddy, the daughter-in-law of former MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy, attended the event.
According to police, former TD MLA J.C. Prabhakar Reddy attempted to reach the venue during the programme. However, police prevented him from doing so to avoid any confrontation between rival groups. During the ensuing commotion, a scuffle broke out, and police stated that some people disrupted their efforts to maintain law and order.
Based on the incident, police filed a case under relevant sections for obstruction of duty against 18 members from both political groups. Police said further investigation is underway.
