16 Held, Nearly 2.9 Kg Ganja Seized In Kandukur Crackdown

NELLORE: Sixteen persons, including a juvenile, were arrested and 2.873 kg of ganja seized during a special anti-narcotics drive conducted by Kandukur Town Police at two locations in the town on June 8.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Prakasam Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju and Kandukur SDPO Balasubrahmanyam following specific intelligence inputs received by Circle Inspector Anwar Basha.
Police first raided a dumping yard near Ananthapuram Road, where 14 youths had allegedly gathered to consume ganja. During the search, officers recovered 473 grams of ganja and took them into custody.
Acting on further information, police later conducted a raid near a cell tower on Gudlur Road, close to a petrol bunk, and arrested two more persons. A total of 2.4 kg of ganja was seized from them.
In all, police seized 2.873 kg of ganja and registered a case under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act in Crime No. 64/2026 of Kandukur Town Police Station.
The arrested persons are residents of Kandukur town and nearby areas, while one of the accused is a 17-year-old juvenile from Tamil Nadu.
Police said investigations are underway to trace the source of the contraband and ascertain whether a larger distribution network is involved.
