13 Village Health Clinics Inaugurated In Markapuram District

Thirteen Village Health Clinics worth ₹4.5 crore were inaugurated in Markapuram district to bring basic healthcare services closer to rural communities.

Thirteen Village Health Clinics constructed at an estimated cost of `4.5 crore were inaugurated in Markapuram district on Tuesday as part of the state government’s initiative to provide healthcare services closer to rural communities.

Markapuram district collector M. Vijaya Sunitha inaugurated the clinics during a virtual programme held at the Markapuram collectorate, as part of the statewide inauguration of 265 Village Health Clinics. Markapuram MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy, Giddalur MLA Muttumula Ashok Reddy, Yerragondapalem TD in-charge Erikson Babu and health department officials participated.

The collector said the clinics would provide treatment for common ailments, essential medicines, basic diagnostic services and healthcare for pregnant women, new mothers and children, besides creating health awareness among villagers.

She directed officials to ensure the availability of medical staff and medicines, maintain cleanliness and regularly monitor the functioning of the clinics. The initiative would strengthen primary healthcare and reduce the need for rural people to travel to distant locations for basic medical services, she said.
