13 AP-Linked Persons Remain Untraced Amid Nepal-Tibet Flood Crisis

Vijayawada: As floods and landslides in the Nepal-Tibet region continued to hamper rescue operations, 13 persons associated with Andhra Pradesh remained untraced, even as the humanitarian crisis worsened in the affected areas.

Of the 13 AP-linked persons, seven are residents of Andhra Pradesh, while six are AP-origin NRIs or overseas persons. Four of the six AP-origin persons are associated with the Isha Foundation Group.

The seven AP residents include Annamdevara Venkatram and Annamdevara Anagha, from Kakinada/Bengaluru; Chopparapu Ramesh Babu of Krishna district, whose last known location was recorded at the Gyirong Immigration Office in China; Santosh Sahu and Spandan Sahu of Parvatipuram; and Padhy Surabhi Manmath and Syna Kumari Sahu, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

The six AP-origin overseas persons include V.L. Bala Subramanyam, Atluri Sasi Kumar, Nimmagadda Rajya Lakshmi and K. Govind, four of whom are linked to the Isha Foundation. Suhasini Reddy Kandimalla and Ranganath, a New Zealand citizen with an AP association, are also untraced. Ranganath was last associated with the Dhunche/Syabrubesi area.

Meanwhile, Bhaskar Sastry, Mani Sarada, Raghunada Sastry and Hanshika of Adoni in Kurnool district are safe and accounted for. Raghunada Sastry developed severe pulmonary oedema during the pilgrimage and required oxygen support.

The family reached Saga on August 28 and later proceeded to Nyalam County on August 29. They are expected to travel towards Kodari and Kathmandu, subject to weather, road and border conditions. Portable oxygen support or an oxygen-equipped vehicle is urgently required for the Kodari-Kathmandu journey.

The family is expected to reach Kathmandu by August 30 or 31 and has a Kathmandu-Mumbai-Hyderabad flight booked for September 1.
