12 KGBV Students Suffer Rat Bites In NTR District

Vijayawada: As many as 12 girl students studying Class VII at a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in A. Konduru mandal of NTR district suffered rat bites while sleeping in a dormitory on Wednesday night.
After the incident came to light, officials shifted the students to the local primary health centre, where they were provided medical treatment. Their condition was stated to be stable.
Tahsildar N. Aravind, along with other concerned officials, visited the KGBV on Thursday, interacted with the affected students and recorded their statements.
Officials suspect that rats entered the dormitory through open windows. It was also noted that the post of health assistant at the KGBV has been lying vacant for a long time, raising concerns over student safety and supervision.
