Vijayawada: Police arrested 12 accused in the murder of a Telugu Desam activist, Lalam Bangaraiah, at Tuni in the Kakinada district on Wednesday.
The accused were taken on the road with heavy security covering the CRM Centre and Anjaneya Swamy temple and produced in a court.
It may be mentioned that on Jan. 16, the TD activist Bangaraiah was attacked by the YSRC supporters with knives and sticks, causing severe injuries, and he died, succumbing to injuries while undergoing treatment, while two more sustained injuries at Allipudi village of Kotanandur mandal in the district.
DSP Srihari Raju announced that as part of the investigation in the case, they arrested 12 accused in the case and said that as part of a conspiracy, the YSRC supporters arrived at the residence of the party leader Chinthakayala Chinababu and waited for Bangariah and others and attacked them and escaped.
