11.85 Acres Allotted To GCC For Coffee Project
The allotment follows a formal request from the Tribal Welfare department, which is accompanied by a detailed proposal from the GCC.

Visakhapatnam : Anakapalle district collector Vijaya Krishnan issued orders to grant advance possession of 11.85 acres of government land in Settipalem village to the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) for establishing a Coffee Processing Unit, aiming to boost tribal livelihoods and agro-based infrastructure. The land, located in Makavarapalem mandal under the Narsipatnam division, comprises three plots classified as Banjaru (wasteland), non-forest, and cultivable land, spread across survey nos. 108-2, 108-3, and 109-2. The initiative is expected to enhance economic opportunities for local tribes by providing them with jobs and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The site was once part of an open forest block (Sy.No.2) but was later subdivided and transferred under land Tribal distribution schemes for low-income people.
The allotment follows a formal request from the Tribal Welfare department, which is accompanied by a detailed proposal from the GCC. The secretary to the government of the tribal welfare department had previously received a proposal describing the need for the unit, highlighting its potential to improve value addition and market access for tribal coffee growers in the area. According to official land records, the total extent of 11.853 acres of land earmarked for the Coffee Processing Unit in Settipalem village is distributed across three survey plots. Survey no. 108-2 (LPM No. 7) comprises 4.261 acres, while survey no. 108-3 (LPM No. 6) accounts for 3.647 acres. The remaining 3.945 acres fall under survey no. 109-2 (LPM No. 5). All three parcels are classified as wasteland, deemed suitable for agro-industrial development. The revenue divisional officer of Narsipatnam and the Tahsildar of Makavarapalem have been asked to transfer over the land to the vice chairman and managing director of GCC, subject to due acknowledgement, until regular alienation procedures are finalised. The officials are also expected to submit formal alienation proposals as soon as possible.
