GVMC has widened the road to 40 feet

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Sunday formally opened the newly developed 1.4‑km stretch road in Visakhapatnam from NSTL to Simhachalam to ease transportation for lakhs of devotees participating in the annual Sri Varaha Lakshminarasimha Swamy Giri Pradakshina around Simhachalam.
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has widened the road to 40 feet with an investment of ₹11.70 crore. It has been named “Lakshminarasimha Marg.
Those present on the occasion include government whip and Visakhapatnam West MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu), district collector and GVMC Special Officer M. Abhishikt Kishore, GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg, public representatives, and residents of the area.
The widened road from NSTL to Gopalapatnam Kumari Kalyana Mandapam would reduce congestion, improve emergency services, enhance public transport, and facilitate smooth circumambulation of the hill shrine annually by devotees.
Abhishikt Kishore explained that the project involved ₹7.21 crore expenditure on road widening works and ₹4.49 crore for the 770‑metre retaining wall, drainage systems, and bituminous surfacing.
Ketan Garg pointed out that the Lakshminarasimha Marg project has been executed on a war footing to benefit both devotees and local commuters. Further, the widened corridor would provide connectivity to the upcoming Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram.
