11 rebels surrender before police in ASR district
Superintendent of police (SP) Amit Bardar said the surrendered individuals wanted to join the mainstream after they became disillusioned with the “outdated ideology” of the banned outfit CPI(Maoist).

Visakhapatnam: Eleven members of the proscribed outfit CPI (Maoist) from the Galikonda Area Committee, laid down their arms before the ASR district police, on Saturday, citing disillusionment with the organisation’s ideology and attracted towards the state government’s development programmes.
According to police officials, the ultras who surrendered before the police were involved in 39 criminal cases across the G.K. Veedhi and Koyyuru mandals. Most of the surrendered individuals belong to scheduled tribe (ST) community, primarily from the particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG) Kondu. They were working as cultivators in various villages across the district.
According to police, the surrendered Maoists have been identified as Vanthala Bhaskar Rao (24), Tambeli Subba Rao (33), Korra Krishna (20), Gemmili Pentayya (40), Pangi Satti Babu (25), Korra Kamesh (27), Jartha Ramesh (42), Naina Gopal Rao (32), Koda Bonjababu (63), Killo Buddudu (28), and Korra Chinnarao (50).
