It has been thought for eons that monogamy comes naturally to women while men would happily opt for the entire harem if given a choice. The reasons for this was rooted in evolutionary science – men are polygamous because they are naturally meant to spread their genes and women need to stick to a single mate and raise offspring. It seems that all these beliefs may well be all wrong.
Author of the book ‘What Do Women Want?: Adventures in the Science of Female Desire’, Daniel Bergner, explains in this video that women are more likely to get bored with monogamy than men when involved in long-term relationships. In fact, women’s preference for monogamy may be more a result of social and cultural conditioning from childhood than their own sexuality.
Bergner also advises men to ask their female partners about their sexual desires and than women should be more honest about their sexual fantasies.
