Isro builds visitors gallery to view rocket launches at Shar

Pre and post launch activities will be telecast and explained through these screens to viewers.

Nellore: With more and more people wanting to witness rocket launches at Shar, Isro has set up a visitors’ gallery at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, to be opened on Sunday.

As of now, Isro accommodates a small number of visitors to see the launch from the space port which is way short of meeting the rising demand.

In the first phase, a launch viewing gallery with a capacity of 5,000 has been constructed in the form of a stadium at a location that gives a clear view of the two launch pads of Sriharikota range. The facility will be inaugurated on March 31 by Isro chairman Dr Sivan.

Visitors can view launch from this gallery in real time with naked eyes. Large screens have also been placed to visually explain the intricacies of launcher and satellites. In addition, pre and post launch activities will be telecast and explained through these screens to viewers.
