Isro releases first year data of MOM

The data collected by the five payloads of MOM between September 24, 2014 and September 23, 2015 was released to the public.

Chennai: Isro has released the data gathered by Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) during its first year of orbiting around Mars on Saturday.

India's MOM has completed two years orbiting around Mars on Saturday. To mark the occasion Isro chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar released the first year data gathered by MOM to the public.

“Scientists from around the globe have to study and verify the data gathered by Mars Orbiter Mission. After ruling out the other possibilities only we will be able to make a claim. We have some interesting information sent by MOM,” a senior
scientist from Isro said.

It seems MOM has gathered some important information on the presence of the methane in the red planet. “Mars Colour Camera in MOM has helped us in understanding the sublimation process on the Martian north pole, where CO2 and H2O ice cover changes significantly as Mars enters into the northern hemisphere summer,” he added. The data collected by the five payloads of MOM between September 24, 2014 and September 23, 2015 was released to the public.
