Bhubaneshwar: India on Sunday successfully test-fired nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-IV from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at the Dr Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast.
The test-fired was carried out from Launch Pad 4 at around 8.30 AM.
The 4,000-km range missile is equipped with state of the art Avionics, fifth generation onboard computer and distributed architecture. It has the latest features to correct and guide itself for inflight disturbances.
It is 20 meter-long weighing 17 tonnes. The two-stage Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) can take a nuclear warhead of one ton.
The most accurate Ring Laser Gyro based Inertial Navigation System (RINS) and supported by highly reliable redundant Micro Navigation System (MINGS), ensures the vehicle to reach the target within two digit accuracy.
