Watch | SpaceX tests launch of the world's most powerful rocket'
We are well aware about SpaceX’s plans to launch a rocket that would travel to the Moon and Mars. Now it appears like the firm has completed what is reported to be the first static fire test of the Falcon Heavy’s centre core, that could take man to the moon and Mars. The rocket is considered to be the ‘world’s most powerful rocket.’
SpaceX tweeted the footage of the first test fire of a Falcon Heavy centre core that was conducted at the McGregor facility in Texas last week. The rocket was initially scheduled to launch back in 2013, however; the official launch will probably take place this summer.
You can watch the video here.
“First static fire test of a Falcon Heavy centre core completed at our McGregor TX rocket development facility last week,” SpaceX tweet read.
The rocket is still in the making as it still needs to be equipped with three more cores thereby making it a total of 27 Merlin engines to generate 5.13 million pounds of thrust at lift-off.
It will be able to carry more than 140,000 pounds of payload to low-Earth orbit, making it the ‘most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two, SpaceX said.
