GHMC polls: TRS manifesto promises all things for all
Hyderabad: The ruling TRS has promised all things to all people even as it assured protection of the cosmopolitan culture of the Twin Cities in its manifesto for the GHMC polls released on Saturday.
Calling it a development oriented “Hyderabadi manifesto” which promises improvement in basic amenities, corruption-free service among others, the 16-page manifesto listed 68 new promises, developmental works already in progress, and plans to make Hyderabad a “clean, green, safe and smart city”.
The manifesto was released by TRS secretary general K. Kesava Rao at the Telangana Bhavan.
Panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao explained the salient features of the manifesto and exuded confidence of a massive victory for the TRS and bagging the mayor’s post.
“You have seen Majlis, Congress and TD-BJP administer the GHMC. I request people to give us a chance. We will ensure better services. Our focus is on providing basic amenities and involve people in development of the city, laws in tune with public requirement, corruption-free service, safe drinking water, removal of traffic congestion, 24x7 power supply, simple procedures for convenience of people etc,” Mr Rama Rao said.
He said that the TRS was ahead of other parties in campaign, release of candidate list and manifesto.
KTR explained the various initiatives taken up by government since it came to power 18 months ago and assured that government would clear 1,500 slums in five years, construct one lakh 2BHK houses and that it had already given one lakh house site pattas to the poor.
Stating Hyderabad city should be able to host the Olympics, he said the government would provide a big push to sports and games.
Refuting Opposition allegations, he said TRS leaders had met the kin of UoH student Rohith Vemula and government would extend support to his family members.
