Chandy-RSS plot behind Lavalin plea: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has accused chief minister Oommen Chandy of conspiring with RSS in Lavalin issue.
At a press conference here, Mr Balakrishnan said the case which was set aside by the court two years ago on the grounds that it was not even fit for trial, was now being revived for political reasons. “Was the chief minister sleeping all this while?”
The CPM leader said the move was the outcome of growing camaraderie between Mr Chandy and the RSS. “He is using the CBI with the help of the RSS to target CPM leaders,” he said.
Mr Balakrishnan pointed to two reasons behind the haste shown by the government to file review petition at this juncture. One, Mr Chandy wanted to divert public attention from the solar case ahead of his appearance before the commission on January 25. And two, to divert attention from Pinarayi Vijayan's Nava Kerala March, which begins from Kasargod on January 15.
Two judges recuse themselves: Though the CBI Court acquitted CPM leader Pinarayai Vijayan as early as in 2013, the revision petitions pending before the High Court is moving at a snail’s pace.
Two Judges considered the case and recused themselves from hearing the case while Justice K Ramakrishnan is currently considering the case.
The delay was caused owing to one of the respondents not accepting the notice issued by the court. The two judges, Justice K Harilal and Justice N K Balakrishnan, recused from hearing without mentioning the reason for the recusal. As per the normal practice there is no need to reveal the reason for the recusal. Judges recuse from hearing if any of the party in the petition is realted to him in anyway or if the counsel representing the party was a former colleague or a close friend.
