BJP, MIM dividing India, says Digvijay Singh
Hyderabad: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday accused the MIM and BJP of working in tandem to divide the country on communal lines and asked the people of Hyderabad to defeat them in the GHMC elections.
Addressing a series of election meetings organised by the Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district Congress committees, Mr Singh told party workers that victory should be the motto of the party.
He said that MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was known for making tons of money and conveniently ignoring the interests of Muslims and accused him of dividing the country on religious lines along with the BJP.
He also accused TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao of doing nothing for Hyderabad city during his 19-month rule except making false promises and not keeping them.
Mr Singh demanded the Chief Minister, who recently conducted the Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam at his farmhouse to make public the details of donations he had received for the yagam, instead of keeping everything secret.
He said several crores of rupees were spent on the yagam.
Mr Singh said Mr Rao was known for double standards and doublespeak on all key issues, including on Telangana state formation.
He said that Mr Rao had promised merger of his party into the Congress in the event of Telangana formation and had even thanked AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi for granting statehood to Telangana but changed his forgot his promise after reaching Hyderabad.
