Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that the country will not bend to terror and that those responsible for the killing of tourists at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir will not be spared. After laying wreaths on the bodies of those killed in the terror attack, he said on X that "With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack.

"Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared," he said.

As the country mourns the tragic death of innocent tourists, the coffins carrying the victims of the terror attack were brought to the Srinagar airport. Several state government representatives have arrived in Srinagar to facilitate the return home of victims and tourists from their respective states.

This has been one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The government, however, has yet to officially confirm the number of casualties in the terror attack in Pahalgam.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning held a meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Delhi airport upon his arrival from Saudi Arabia, as he took stock of the situation following the terror attack in Pahalgam. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was also part of the meeting, officials said.

Modi was briefed by the officials immediately upon his return amid the nationwide shock and outrage over the most gruesome attack targeting tourists in the Valley in a long spell of time.

Terrorists struck at a prime tourist location in Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people, mostly tourists, and injuring several others, according to officials.

The deceased included two foreigners -- from the UAE and Nepal -- and two locals, they said.

Modi cut short his trip to Saudi Arabia to return on Wednesday morning, while Home Minister Amit Shah rushed to Srinagar on Tuesday evening to spearhead the security measures.

The prime minister has vowed that these behind the attack will not be spared and brought to justice.

Jana Sena Announces Three-Day Mourning for Pahalgam Terror Victims

Amaravati: The Jana Sena Party on Wednesday condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in which 26 people were brutally killed and the party chief Pawan Kalyan announced a three-day mourning across the state.

Jana Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed deep grief over the attack. He announced a three-day mourning on behalf of the party across Andhra Pradesh and directed that the party flags be flown at half-mast, according to a party statement.

Candlelight vigils will be held across the state, every evening during these three days, the statement added.

“Terrorism has no place in a civil society. We stand united and resolved in grief,” Pawan Kalyan stated, calling the attack inhuman and intolerable.

On Friday, human chains will be formed in protest against terrorism, expressing solidarity with victims and reaffirming Jana Sena's commitment to peace, the statement added.

Pahalgam Attack: Owaisi Accuses Modi Govt. of Intelligence Lapse

Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday alleged the Pahalgam terror attack was the result of an intelligence failure. He demanded the Narendra Modi government to fix accountability over the incident saying the attack is more dangerous, condemnable and painful than the similar incidents in Uri and Pulwama. Speaking to reporters here, the Hyderabad MP strongly condemned the incident and expressed hope that the government will teach a lesson to all these terrorists and ensure justice to the families of victims at the earliest.

"The terrorists indiscriminately killed innocent people after asking their religion in Pahalgam. We strongly condemn this. We expect the government would take strict action. Another important thing is that this is also an intelligence failure," he said.

The Narendra Modi government should see to it that to what extent their deterrence policy is succeeding or not, he said. The intention of the terrorists, who came from the neighbouring country is to spread terror and kill innocents here in India, he said.

"This is a painful incident and it is a massacre," Owaisi said. The AIMIM stands with the families of victims of the incident and pray for the early wellbeing of those injured, he said. He further said efforts (by some forces) were being made to inflict loss to the tourism industry in Kashmir.
