Need skywalks, proper junctions to avoid accidents

The traffic police department should ensure that their men are on the roads to monitor traffic.

If traffic rules are in place and are enforced strictly, most of the road accidents can be avoided. There should be a system in place, where no vehicle is allowed to cross a certain speed within the city limits.

When I was the traffic commissioner, I carried out a study on the accident zones in the city and found that pedestrians and two-wheeler riders form majority of the victims.

In K.R. Puram, Yelahanka and Chikkajala limits, there are a lot of localities on either side of the National Highway. Residents from these localities try to cross the road without noticing speeding vehicles, while two-wheelers drive in the opposite direction. Such violations should stop. There is a need for skywalks, underpasses or proper junctions.

In K.R. Puram limits, Tin Factory is a notorious junction, where hundreds of vehicles converge at a single point. Heavy vehicles, including buses, should be restricted to a few lanes, so that they don’t drive all over the road. Similarly, in Yelahanka and Chikkajala, we need traffic signals at appropriate places.

The traffic police department should ensure that their men are on the roads to monitor traffic. Also, speed-breakers play an important role in avoiding accidents. Accidents can be reduced if simple solutions that are available are implemented.
