Mystic Mantra: Only creative people can be joyous

A creative person knows nothing of problems; his life is a constant flow.

Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. It is the energy that is characterised by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking and producing. That’s why creating the even smallest thing like a cup of coffee, in essence, becomes a cup of joy. Is creativity possible in business? Certainly, if you are willing to take risks and progress through discomfort to get to the finish line. Creativity is not about creating an art piece or creating great monuments, creativity is a flow of energy that runs this universe.

Osho gives tremendous importance to living creatively. Because he feels that most of the human problems arise out of not being creative. The energy that needed to be expressed in creativity becomes stuck, and then problems arise. A creative person knows nothing of problems; his life is a constant flow. Nothing blocks his flow. There are so many people with so many problems, but all the problems can be reduced to one single problem — that they have chosen a lifestyle that is not creative. And to choose a lifestyle, which is not creative, is to remain miserable.

On this earth who doesn’t want to be joyful and blissful? But people search for joy from the wrong end. They cannot find joy directly because joy is the byproduct of creativity. So their pursuit of joy is reduced to pleasure. They become pleasure-seekers, but the pleasure goes on eluding them. They will die unfulfilled. Joy comes to people who are creative. They have to remember that they need not go in search of it — it comes of its own accord; it is a gift from existence.

Life goes on resolving its problems on its own; one need not resolve them. One has to be creative and everything resolves itself of its own accord. And then that resolution has a beauty to it — it has a different quality. When you resolve something, you somehow manage; you patch things up according to your narrow understanding. But sooner or later the unsavoury situation will arise again, maybe in a new form, from a new direction, because it is not really resolved; you have simply covered it up. You are befooling nobody except yourself.

Here, take an Osho tip: Pour your energies into creative outlets and problems disappear like dewdrops in the morning sun. It is good to remember that life goes on resolving all that needs to be resolved; you need not come in the way. Then life is really a benediction, a pure benediction. One goes from one peak to another peak; one is always moving to a higher and higher plane. And the moment you move from one plane to another higher plane, all the problems that belong to the first plane simply disappear, become irrelevant. If you remain stuck on the same plane you cannot solve them. Try it — and you will be surprised that there was no need to tackle any problem directly. The way is indirect.
